KINESIOLOGY TAPE FAQ
What is face taping?
Face taping is an innovative, non-invasive method of anti-aging care. Taping strengthens the facial muscles and tightens the skin in a gentle, natural way.
Taping is like a natural beauty booster: the method improves the elasticity of the skin, promotes microcirculation and relaxes the muscles.
What are kinesiology tapes used for?
Our tapes offer a unique combination of care and prevention. They support the skin and muscles in their regeneration and give the face more freshness and contour. In combination with massages, they promote blood circulation, stimulate collagen production and improve elasticity.
How do I use the Pruna Face & Body Tape?
The PRUNA Face & Body Tape is easy to use and ideal for tightening skin and facial muscles.
Follow these steps for proper application:
Preparation: Start by thoroughly cleansing your face to remove dirt, oil and makeup. Then apply a light, non-oily moisturizer that absorbs quickly to ensure the tape adheres properly.
Cutting: Cut the tape into the desired shape and size to suit the part of the body or face that is to be taped. The tapes are elastic in length and should be cut lengthwise, not widthwise, for optimal application.
Application: The application on the body and face differs in the methodology:
Face : Place the tape on the outer edge of the face and gently pull the skin towards the outside of the face. The tape is then gently applied towards the middle of the face without pulling on the tape. Make sure that it fits naturally and does not unnecessarily tighten the skin.
Body : The tape is applied in different ways depending on the application requirements. The biggest difference to the application on the face is that here it is not the skin that is pulled, but the tape itself, in order to ensure optimal hold for the muscles.
Duration of use: Leave the tape on the skin for 2 to 6 hours or overnight, as needed. Repeat the application regularly for visible tightening and improved skin contours.
Removal: Carefully peel off the tape. To remove any adhesive residue, use a cotton pad soaked in a little massage oil and gently wipe the face or body area. Then massage the taped area lightly to promote blood circulation and relax the skin.
How do I cut tapes?
The tapes should be individually cut to fit the part of the body or face you want to treat.
Cutting: Cut the tape to the length required to cover the desired area. The tapes are elastic. When cutting, strips should always be cut lengthwise, not widthwise. Make sure that the edges of the tape are cut evenly to ensure a clean application.
Face : Cut the tape into narrower strips that fit well to the fine contours of the face. The strips should be long enough to reach from the outer parts of the face towards the center of the face without unnecessarily stretching the skin.
Body : For the body, cut wider strips that completely cover the affected muscle groups or skin areas. The tape should be cut in such a way that it provides support to the muscles while achieving an even tightening effect.
How do I prepare for the application?
Good preparation is crucial to ensure that the PRUNA Face & Body Tape adheres optimally and achieves the best results.
1. Start with a patch test to avoid possible allergic reactions. Cut a small piece of the tape and stick it lightly behind your ear, where the skin is similarly sensitive to your face.
2. Cleanse the face or body thoroughly to remove dirt, oil, and makeup. Use a mild, gentle cleanser that does not irritate the skin.
3. Care: Then apply a light, non-oily care product that is quickly absorbed. This forms a protective layer between the tape and the skin, which helps prevent skin irritation. Ideally, you should avoid products that contain strong active ingredients (such as retinol or acids), as these could lead to cross-reactions when combined with the tape. Make sure that the care product is well absorbed so that the face does not remain sticky or oily, as this could affect the adhesion of the tapes.
With this preparation, you ensure that the tape holds optimally and you achieve the best results.
Is face taping safe?
Yes, face taping is a safe and effective method when used correctly. The kinesiology tapes we use at PRUNA are specifically designed to gently support the skin without damaging it. The tape should always be applied gently and without pulling too hard to tighten the skin and not strain it.
To prevent potential skin reactions, it is important to perform a patch test before first use. If an allergic reaction, hypersensitivity or skin irritation occurs, do not use the tape.
Possible side effects & precautions
Although the use of kinesiology tape is generally safe, in rare cases side effects may occur. Here are some possible side effects and precautions to be aware of:
Skin irritation: In some cases, mild skin irritation such as redness or itching may occur. This usually occurs on sensitive skin. To prevent skin reactions, perform a patch test before first use. If you notice signs of an allergic reaction such as redness, itching or burning, remove the tape immediately and consult a doctor.
If skin is damaged: Do not use the tape on open wounds, damaged skin, rashes, or eczema as this may cause further skin irritation.
If you have allergies: If you are allergic to plasters or certain ingredients in kinesiology tape, you should avoid using it or consult a dermatologist beforehand.
Overstretching : The tape should always be applied gently without stretching the skin excessively. Excessive pulling force can cause skin damage.
Redness or discomfort: If you experience redness or discomfort after use, remove the tape and give your skin a rest. If symptoms persist or your skin reacts more severely, consult a doctor.
